Data Deletion

This page explains how you can delete your GCSE Theory account and what happens to your data when you do. The aim is to keep things simple and transparent.

1. What data is deleted?

When you request deletion of your account, we aim to remove or anonymise the personal data we hold about you. This typically includes:

  • Your GCSE Theory account in Firebase Authentication.
  • Your email address linked to that account.
  • Your quiz attempts and progress data, where stored.

Some limited information may be kept for a short time in secure backups or logs, for security and legal reasons. Where that is the case, it is kept only for as long as necessary and then deleted or fully anonymised.

2. How to request deletion

Right now, you can request deletion of your account by emailing us. In the future, we may also add an in-app delete button so you can manage this yourself from your account page.

Email: contact@plumbtheory.co.uk

Please contact us from the email address linked to your GCSE Theory account, and clearly state that you would like your account and data deleted. If you are under 18, you may wish to ask a parent, carer, or teacher to email us with you.

3. Firebase Authentication

GCSE Theory uses Firebase Authentication, a service provided by Google, to handle sign-ups and logins. Your account and login details are stored there rather than on our own servers.

When we process a deletion request, we will remove your account from Firebase Authentication as part of that process, so you can no longer sign in with that email.

4. Why this matters

Being clear about data deletion is important for privacy laws in the UK and for app stores, but most importantly it is about trust. You should know what happens to your information and how to ask for it to be removed.

If anything on this page is unclear, please feel free to contact us and ask for a simpler explanation.
